Our enrolment process is governed by Catholic Education Tasmania.

Enrolment applications can be submitted all year for any year level and each will be assessed, based on availability.

Enrolment preference is given to siblings, Catholics and children of St Mary’s College alumni, but we welcome all students from all backgrounds to apply and your application will be assessed alongside all others.

For our entry years, Kinder applications close in May the year the child turns 4 (the year prior to enrolment year, the year they are turning 5). Year 7 applications close in March, the year the students are in Year 6. We recommend Year 7 applications be submitted when the student is in Year 5.

During the school year, vacancies do arise in some year levels and we encourage families to submit an enrolment application.

Kindergarten

Even though applications for Kinder 2026 have closed, as of Friday 8 May, we are still accepting enquiries. Please contact our Enrolment Officer.

All Kinders will have three compulsory ‘core’ days, attending Kindergarten on either Monday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Friday.

If this enrolment query is for your first child starting their formal educational journey, you are sure to have a lot of questions. Year 7

Applications for Year 7 in 2026 are now closed. For any enquiries regarding Year 7 enrolment and the availability of places, please contact our Enrolment Officer.

We are pleased to confirm that Year 7 2025 and 2026 will have a school-provided device, a Lenovo 13w Yoga Gen 2. We advise families with students entering Year 7 in 2025 onwards not to purchase a device for your child for Year 7 2025. Learn more here.

Sibling applications reminder

Current families are reminded to please submit sibling applications by the relevant due dates. Existing enrolments of older siblings does not mean an automatic enrolment of younger siblings.

Sibling applications need to be lodged individually to be added to our Enrolments online system.

Transition

St Mary’s supports all new students. For Year 7 students starting their Senior School journey, we have a dedicated Year 7 Year Level Coordinator, Year 8 Year Level Coordinator and a  Transition Leader, who will assist your daughter throughout her transition process.

In Kindergarten and Year 7, we offer a series of orientation events to ensure your child has a smooth transition into the St Mary’s College community.
