Celebrating a century

Posted on in Alumni

It is with great pleasure that we wish one of our cherished alumni, Helen Foster (nee Mitchell) a happy 100th birthday!

Helen marked this extraordinary milestone on 5 January 2024 surrounded by friends and relatives, including her eight children, their spouses and most of her 25 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

It was a joyful occasion, and Helen responded to toasts, expressing her amazement at having lived for 100 years.

‘Can you believe it?’, she asked her guests with a laugh of disbelief, ‘that I was born on this day 100 years ago?’

She went on to say that ‘There are four words I can attribute to my successes: family, friends, faith and Foster.’

A graduate of the class of 1940, Helen is possibly the oldest living alumna of St Mary’s College.|

On behalf of the College and our Alumni Association, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Helen on reaching this remarkable milestone.
