When great minds unite

On Tuesday 13 March, St Mary’s College welcomed approximately 100 high ability students from southern Tasmanian Catholic primary schools for an action-packed day of mind-bending activities covering science, design technology, mathematics, creative writing, drama and philosophy.

Onlookers would have heard a pin drop in the Nagle Centre that morning, with girls and boys focused intently on their design technology projects, which they worked on in pairs.

The challenge: designing and building a one-metre tall tower to support the weight of a book, using just newspaper and scotch tape.

Thank you to our Junior School Extension teacher, Jenny Noble, for organising and coordinating such a successful day for our students and visitors.
