Students hit the ground running at All Schools Track and Field

The 2018 Tasmanian All Schools Track and Field event went off with a bang on 27-28 October, with a number of St Mary’s College students competing and recording some superb individual performances on the day.

In a major coup for the College, Liana Kenna and Claudia Williams (Year 10) both earned selection in the 2018 Australian All Schools Track and Field Championships to be held in Cairns from December 7-9.

Girls U18
Liana Kenna – 1st 100m
Claudia Williams – 1st high jump, 4th javelin

The following St Mary’s girls also competed at carnival and achieved top three finishes:

Girls U16
Olivia Read (Year 8) – 1st hurdles
Georgia Chambers (Year 9) – 3rd 1500m.

Girls U14
Lauren Shelton (Year 7) – 1st discus, 2nd shot put, 2nd javelin, 3rd hurdles

Junior School results

Jessica Smith (Year 5) – Silver  800m, Silver 1,500m. Jessica has also been selected as part of the State team for the 2018 School Sport Australia Track and Field Championships, held in Melbourne.
Isobel Gray (Year 5) – 5th 100m and 200m, 4th long jump, 2nd high jump and bronze in the combined event (100m, 800m, shot put and long jump).

All girls performed exceptionally well and represented themselves and St Mary’s College with determination and sportsmanship.
