Year 5/6 musicians take centre stage at Combined Bands Concert

Posted on in Junior School

On Monday 31 August, we were treated to a wonderful showcase of musical talent as 200 Year 5/6 students from St Mary’s College and St Virgil’s College came together for the annual SMC/SVC Combined Bands Concert.

Throughout the day, students took part in sectional rehearsals, instrumental warm-ups and combined ensemble work, all culminating in a vibrant afternoon concert in the Nagle Centre for their peers and families.

The concert featured an impressive line-up of instruments, with students showcasing their skills on flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone/lower brass, bass, percussion and xylophone.

Their performances highlighted both the depth of talent among our young musicians and the strength of our Music programs.

Students presented four pieces, Jurassic Park, Ozzie Mozzie, Shark Attack and Power Rock, each performed with confidence, energy and plenty of musical flair!

Congratulations to all our students for their hard work and dedication, and sincere thanks to our Music staff and tutors for the rich learning opportunities they provide and the growth they nurture throughout each student’s musical journey.

We also extend our appreciation to the staff who conducted ensembles, supported rehearsals and performed alongside students.

Here’s to many more music‑making moments ahead!
