Year 10 Drama takes the stage for sustainability

Posted on in Senior School

This term, Mrs Irene Knauseder’s Year 10 Drama students explored the power of political theatre, bringing their learning to life in a meaningful way.

In collaboration with the Sustainability Learning Centre (SLC), and supported by a grant-funded initiative, they created and performed a powerful piece titled Not. For. Sale at our recent Senior School Assembly.

Centered on the issue of fast fashion, the performance was the result of research, creative collaboration and hands-on learning.

Students researched the environmental and social impacts of fast fashion, co-wrote the script and filmed original video content, learned choreography and devised scenes, and used repurposed clothing from the tip shop for props and costumes.

A huge thank you to Tullia Chung-Tilley from the SLC for her guidance and expertise throughout the project.

Looking ahead, the class is considering a clothes swap initiative to continue spreading the message of sustainability across our College community.
