NAIDOC Week 2018 celebrations in full swing

Activities are being held across the College this week to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

NAIDOC Week (8-15 July 2018), was marked early with an all-school assembly on Tuesday 3 July during which our Aboriginal students, Chloe (Year 11), Bonnie (Year 8) and Ashlee Bowden (Year 2) gave a Welcome to Country.

Following the assembly, staff and students spilled out onto the College Green to enjoy a barbecue lunch of traditional fare, including freshly made wallaby burgers and mutton bird sandwiches.

This year’s theme, ‘Because of Her, We Can!’, acknowledges the active and significant roles that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have played – and continued to play – at the community, local, state and national levels.
