Each year Mrs Paske meets individually with each Year 10, 11 and 12 student to discuss career pathways and subject selections.

Below are the ways in which each senior secondary year level explores their future pathway options.

Year 10

Students attend Careers Education through the Year 10 Pillars Program. During these lessons students:

Year 10 Work Experience hosts

Can you and your business host a St Mary’s College Year 10 student for a Work Experience placement? If yes, we’d love to hear from you. Please fill out the short form here and we will be in touch with you to organise their participation.

Year 11

Students meet with Mrs Paske individually to review and discuss their career pathway, suitable tertiary institutions and/or employment opportunities, and suitable course selections for Year 12.

Year 12

Students meet with Mrs Paske individually to review and discuss their career pathway, tertiary institution applications, and/or employment opportunities. Students are given opportunities to answer Year 12 exit questions as they approach Graduation.

Throughout Years 11 and 12, students are also invited to participate in external and internal information sessions with a range of Tertiary providers such as UTAS, Drysdale and Tas TAFE, as well as employers in a range of business industries.

School-based apprenticeships or traineeships

A school-based apprenticeship or traineeship enables a Year 10, 11 or 12 student to combine work and training to achieve a nationally recognised qualification, while still attending school and working toward their Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE). Find out more here.

Course Guides

The course guides detail each Senior Secondary course for Years 9-12 students and include the pathways for each career focus.
