Term 2 approach

Hopefully families were able to enjoy some relaxation over the holidays and are now eager to get back to a more regular routine and have your children re-engage with their education.

We appreciate that our community is endeavouring to keep students at home if at all possible.

Thank you for responding to surveys and providing feedback to assist us in the management of learning at home. A reminder that, as our Junior School students are twelve years and under, it remains the responsibility of parents and carers to ensure that education continues at this time.

Teachers have been working hard to reconfigure their planning and collect digital resources to ensure that our online programs cover essential learnings, and are engaging and manageable for the supervising adult at home.

By 9.00am each Monday a timetable of the week’s learning will be provided. Each day teachers will interact with home learners to support the program. Please view your child/ren’s Year level guidelines here.

We are all accountable to ensure regular learning for our students takes place. Teachers will take attendance daily at 3:00pm based on engagement with the online platform. If your child is sick or unable to participate for some reason, please contact the teacher to let them know.

Teachers will be providing support materials to assist with set activities. Additional learning support is available over this period of online learning for students who may need extra help. Teacher Assistants will be checking in with a range of students to offer assistance or feedback.

If you feel that your child needs additional support, or is not coping with the work that is set, please don’t hesitate to contact Louise Davidson, the Junior School Learning Support Coordinator, so that additional support or modified work can be arranged.

Our school Counsellor, Gai Bath, is also available if you or your child need support.

Students attending school

Thank you to essential workers who are supporting our community at this challenging time. We are able to provide supervision of online learning onsite for those students needing to attend.

School-based learning arrangements:

  • Students need to wear PE uniform with layering options for warmth
  • Parents/carers can drop students at the Brisbane or Harrington St gates
  • Only Kindergarten and Prep parents/carers may enter the school grounds
  • All students entering the school grounds must use the hand sanitiser provided
  • Students will be supervised by teaching and teaching support staff and will be engaging with the same activities as those learning at home

Thank you once again for your support. Working together as a community we are achieving some amazing things to enable the continuity of our children’s education at this challenging time.

Kind Regards,

Brigid Knight
Director of Junior School
