Designers in the spotlight

St Mary’s College Graphic Design students, Isabella Franklin, Imogen Barry-Murphy and Taylah Pickett (Year 11) have been working with College Principal, Helen Spencer and Sister Gabrielle Morgan PBVM (on behalf of the Presentation Sisters) on the design on a new leadlight window, to be installed in the College’s Adrian Doyle Chapel to mark our 150th anniversary in 2018.

The ‘Presentation Window’ will be centered around the concept of ‘Mary saying “yes” to God’.

Its design will comprise individual pieces of coloured glass, which will be intricately cut and joined together with a lead channel between pieces.

Once completed, the window will serve to complement four leadlight windows on the opposite side of the Chapel building which signify the Story of Creation.

Helen and the girls are pictured here with local glass designer and maker, Merinda Young, who the College has commissioned to create the Presentation Window.

The window is anticipated to be finalised for installation by the end of this year, so stay tuned for more updates soon.
