There are many opportunities for parents and carers to become more involved in the College as a volunteer.
Classroom teachers always eagerly welcome parents who would like to assist with excursions, art and craft activities, cooking, and various other classroom activities. For parents who may not be able to assist in this way, packs can be prepared by teachers for home help.
The College is especially grateful for parent and carer volunteers assisting with the various sport carnivals and taking on coach, manager and umpire roles for team sports. Without the generosity of our parent community, it would not be possible to enter the vast amount of team sports that we do, which our students so thoroughly enjoy.
Working with Vulnerable People Registration (WWVP)
Before becoming involved in coaching a sport, assisting in the classroom or on an excursion, all volunteers are first required to complete a Working with Vulnerable People registration. This is a requirement under legislation. Below is a link to an information flyer that provides more information. A copy of the Working with Vulnerable People card will be required before assisting in this capacity.
Parents and Friends’ Association
The Parents and Friends’ Association provides a forum to:
- engage in a spirit of cooperation with the life of the College.
- promote genuine fellowship between parents, staff and friends of the College.
- assist in the provision of the College’s facilities and teaching resources.
- actively partner and contribute to their child’s educational experiences.
The Parents and Friends’ Association has supported the St Mary’s school community with the coordination of the Families Welcome Event, Mother’s Day Breakfast and Father’s Day Breakfast.
The Parents and Friends’ Association often seek volunteers for key College events and our community members make a beneficial contribution to these.
