Dear Parents and Carers,
This post contains information for all students in the Senior School (Year 7-12) who will be using a laptop as a part of the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. This further information is a follow up from the information previously provided by the College.
All Senior School students can now begin the process of enrolling their device into the College BYOD program. Due to the Senior School changing to a new system for managing laptops on the BYOD program, all Senior School students will be required to re-enrol their laptop into the new system, regardless of their device being enrolled previously.
Students should also install their College-provided copy of Office 2016 suite on their laptop, and install and configure the OneDrive app to connect to their College file storage. Guides and instructions for enrolling your laptop, installing Office 2016 and configuring OneDrive can be found on the College website here: http://www.smc.tas.edu.au/information-technology/resources/techguides/
While attempting to follow any of the guides, please ensure that the laptop is online and that you are following the correct guide for your laptop operating system.
If you would like some assistance in enrolling your daughter’s laptop, please book in to one of the help sessions being offered on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 January through the booking link below.
Sessions will be run at the College on the top floor of the Mary Morgan Wing.
ICT staff will be available during these sessions to run through the following set-up procedures:
- Enrolling laptops into the BYOD platform.
- Installing the Office 2016 suite.
- Installing/configuring the OneDrive app to connect to the College file storage.
New students to the College are encouraged to attend one of the help sessions, where usernames and passwords will be provided. Alternatively, if you would like to follow the user guides to manage the enrolment process yourself, please contact the School Office for your daughter’s username and password.
To ensure a smooth start to the academic year it is highly recommended that students prepare their laptop from home, or book into a session if you are having difficulties and seek assistance.
If you are unable to prepare the device from home/or attend the help session prior to school commencing, there will be some additional support available for students in the first week of Term 1.
