Year 3-4 runners-up

Year 3/4 division 2 basketball team.

Well done to our Year 3/4 division 2 basketball team who finished runners-up (by just two points) in the Southern Primary School Basketball Championships, which were held on the weekend of October 20-21.

Not only did the girls compete in five games over the two-day tournament – which is very impressive, but it was the first time they had played together as a group!

They represented St Mary’s College in fantastic spirit and should be commended for their hard work and sportsmanship.

Congratulations to all participants and thank you to coach, Natalie Geard for your dedication, encouragement and enthusiasm.

Senior finals results

Year 7 Green basketball winners.

Year 7 Green won their final on Wednesday 24 October, beating Sacred Heart College 48-33 in a very fast-paced and action-packed game.

Year 8 basketball runners-up.

Unfortunately, our Year 8 team didn’t get the same result, going down 26-21 to Sacred Heart.

Overall, we had a really good basketball season with three of our seven teams making finals, and even though it is nice to finish on top, the main aim of all our sports at St Mary’s is about having fun, being active and playing sports with your friends.

A big thank you needs to go to all the amazing parents who helped out with coaching, scoring and team management as well. Without them, none if would be possible!
