The Presentation Steps show the key concepts and principles of the Presentation Charism as they have been translated into a contemporary school context. They are combined with the heart from the Nano Nagle Icon. This Icon can be seen (along with the House Crests) from this station by looking up from the steps ahead to the large windows above.

Presentation Touchstones
The Presentation Touchstones – compassion, simplicity, hospitality – reflect the core principles of the Presentation Sisters. They reflect the faith, life and work of Nano Nagle and have been upheld by the Presentation Sisters at St Mary’s College since their arrival in Tasmania in 1866. Today, these touchstones underpin all that we do and who we are at St Mary’s College.

Presentation Values
The Presentation values of relationships, resilience, respect and responsibility are the cornerstone on which we build our vision and underpin all that we do at St Mary’s College. Students are explicitly taught these values and those who consistently exhibit them are awarded pins which reflect these symbols:

Presentation Values Symbols: Responsibility, Resilience, Respect and Relationships
This is how these values translate into everyday student behaviour:
- Responsibility – I can be relied upon to do what is expected of me and be a good example to others.
- Resilience – I have a growth mindset to give things a go even when they are hard.
- Respect – I treat others as I would like to be treated.
- Relationships – I work cooperatively with others and make an effort to be kind and inclusive.

Prayer
As Presentation People, sharing the Charism of Nano Nagle, may we reach out in faith and in a spirit of hospitality, compassion and simplicity to all of creation.
May we hear the call of God’s mission to those made poor and to the cry of the Earth.
We pray today for a sustainable society based on respect for Earth, universal human rights, economic justice and a culture of peace.
Amen.
