With your help, St Mary’s College is planning to embark on the next exciting phase of the building plan – a new state of the art visual arts space (pun intended). Named after the generous women who, this year, are celebrating 250 years of the Presentation order, the Presentation Arts Precinct will be a glowing addition to our Arts Program at the College.
“We have engaged the services of IDW Architecture + Interiors to plan this creative space, which will feature two multipurpose art spaces and a Digital Art lab.
The new Presentation Arts Precinct will be located below the Nagle Centre in the space which currently serves as an undercover staff car park.
The project is anticipated to cost approximately $4 million to build and the College will need substantial support. If our fundraising goals are met, we anticipate that the building will commence at the end of 2027 and be completed by the end of 2028.”
St Mary’s College has long understood the importance of art and fostering creativity and is excited to enter this next stage of the master building plan.
For the Presentation Arts Precinct to come to fruition, however, we will need the support of the community. The funds the College receives from fees and government funding only covers operational expenses, which is largely because we ensure that our fees are affordable for those who value a Catholic education. In turn this makes funding larger scale projects such as refurbishments and new building projects challenging.
As the only K-12 Catholic all girls school in Tasmania, we hold a unique position. We are continuously developing, upgrading and building for the future as the needs for our campus grows. In 2026 St Mary’s will be educating over 1,000 students from Kindergarten to Year 12 on the one campus.
Philanthropy has the power to shape the future, to remove barriers and inspire.
