Senior Rowing Coach

St Mary’s College is seeking a skilled and inspiring Girls Senior Rowing Coach to lead, mentor, and guide our talented team of senior rowers.

About the position

As the Girls Senior Rowing Coach, you will be responsible for managing the senior rowing team (years 10-12). You will work closely with the Director of Rowing to develop the athletes technical skill and physical conditioning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement comprehensive training programs tailored to individual and team needs.
• Provide expert instruction on rowing techniques, strategy, and race preparation.
• Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that promotes camaraderie and sportsmanship.
• Monitor and track athlete progress, adjusting training plans as necessary.
• Collaborate with assistant coaches to ensure seamless coordination of coaching efforts.
• Mentor athletes on goal setting, time management, and personal growth.
• Lead team meetings and communicate effectively with athletes and their families.
• Attend all school rowing regattas and camps
• Represent the team at competitions, events, and meetings with stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and uphold high standards of sportsmanship.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience coaching rowing at the senior level.
• Strong understanding of rowing techniques, training methodologies, and racing strategies.
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire athletes to achieve their best.
• Commitment to creating a positive and respectful team culture.
• Relevant coaching certifications and credentials (preferred).

The rowing season runs from September to March.
