About the position

The Learning Support Teacher (Secondary) will support the College’s active inclusion of students with diverse learning needs. This position will have a range of responsibilities including assessing the individual learning needs of students, facilitating the implementation of learning plans, and supporting classroom teachers in implementation of adjustments to enable student access, participation and progression in curriculum.

 Additionally, this role will include programming and teaching English with our EALD (English as an additional language or dialect) students and leading the literacy intervention program.  The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Learning Support and wellbeing team in the Secondary School, under the supervision of the Learning Leader of Lantern.

 Applicants should be familiar with NCCD (National Consistent Collection of Data) , as well as the preparation of learning plans. Familiarisation and/or training in the MacqLit program would be an advantage.  Experience with teaching literacy and basic English skills would also be valuable. 

To be successful, you will be able to exhibit a wide range of exemplary teaching practices, which include:

  • Creating and maintaining supportive and safe learning environments
  • Teaching small groups of students with either literacy gaps or limited English skills
  • Working collaboratively in a school team to plan and implement effective teaching and learning strategies
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
