150 faces150 Faces Project

St Mary’s College turns 150 in 2018 and we are planning major celebrations throughout the year.

One highlight is the production of a book that features 150 Faces of significant people who have made an impact on the St Mary’s community. The book will highlight the school service and achievements and be published ready for our 150th anniversary.

While some stories are known to us, we are reaching out to you and the wider public to find the many and varied stories that need to be told.

Nominations are called for past members of the College community, male and female, in the categories of students, staff and other (eg. volunteers), who fit the criteria noted on the nomination form.

I have worked with a small committee to put together an explanation of the project and a set of criteria, as well as a nomination form. This has been overseen and approved by the 150th Anniversary Committee, headed by the Principal.

The selection criteria against which nominations will be assessed are:

  1. Past students who were educated for a minimum of six years at St Mary’s College having made a significant contribution, in the spirit of Nano Nagle, in at least one of the following fields:
academic, sporting, faith and mission, the arts or community service. Post St Mary’s College, the past student must be deemed to have made a significant contribution to the wider community.
  2. Staff members who served at St Mary’s College for a minimum of 10 years and made a significant impact in the spirit of Nano Nagle.
  3. An individual who has given a minimum of 10 years of voluntary service to the College and made a
significant contribution in the spirit of Nano Nagle.
  4. It may happen that a nominated person who has demonstrated a significant contribution to the wider community as a past student or staff member of St Mary’s College, has not met the length of service criteria in category ‘a’ or ‘b’. Such a person may still be worthy of recognition at the discretion of the 150th Anniversary Committee.

The form may be completed online below or alternatively you can download the form and either post it, hand it in or email it.
