Two of SMC’s rising culinary stars have added another notch to their belt after taking home gold at the Australian Culinary Federation Tasmania Junior Challenge.

Year 10 VET Hospitality students, Emma Hannon and Caroline Wilson were named the overall winners of the competition, which was held at Guilford Young College yesterday (July 3, 2018).

Teams were judged on elements including taste, communication, hygiene, teamwork and ability to meet timeframes, with Emma and Caroline working well under pressure to achieve a fantastic result.

Thank you to SMC’s VET Hospitality, Foods and Textiles teacher, Rosemary Dwyer, for helping the girls develop their skills and techniques, and GYC VET Hospitality teacher, Stephen Lunn and Industry Link’s Michael Norton for mentoring students on the day.
