Co-curricular Activities – Student Leadership

As the only Catholic school in Tasmania which caters for girls from Kindergarten to Grade 12, the students in Grade 11 and 12 at St Mary’s College have a unique opportunity to develop their leadership skills.

The College has a well established Prefect system for Grade 12 students and is developing a Student Representative Council. Each of the College’s four houses also elect captains and vice captains.

Senior students run a Big Sister program – providing friendship and support for Grade 7 students, helping them settle in to that vital first year of secondary school.

The Junior School also encourages leadership qualities through the annual election of councillors and captains.

All of these opportunities contribute to the development of personal confidence, preparing our students for subsequent life in the wider community.
