Old Scholars
The Old Scholars’ Association is an integral and important part of the St Mary’s College Community.
Through this website you will be able to update your contact details and be kept up to date with the latest Old Scholars’ events, functions and reunions. You will also be able to view a gallery of photos from each event held.
In the past couple of years we have held some very successful functions, including an Autumnal Cocktail Party at Home Hill Winery; a ‘Ladies Day Out’ High Tea at Rockerfellers; a Mid-Winter Cocktail Party at The Lower House; and a Pink Afternoon Tea in the Nagle Centre of the College in support of Breast Cancer.
At the end of each year our Mass and Annual General Meeting is held, followed by a light afternoon tea in St Peter’s Hall. We are always willing to welcome new Committee Members as well as ideas for future functions. You may like to post your ideas on this website, contact a Committee Member, or email the Old Scholars’ Coordinator at the College, Mrs Vicki Turvey at vturvey@smc.tas.edu.au.

In the Senior School the prize awarded is the Senior Art Prize. The Junior School prize is awarded to a student in Grade 6 deemed to display Presentation values.
Graduating Classes
It has been an initiative of the OSA Committee to present the Grade 12 Graduating Class with a gift from the Old Scholars’ Association, such as a year’s Membership Certificate, an SMC Key Ring or a special bag of sweets made in the SMC colours with ‘SMC Leavers’ written on each one.
North West OSA Committee
There is a very active branch of the Old Scholars’ Association in the North West who meet regularly and enjoy lunches and activities. President Lillian Hay often reports in the Alma Mater magazine on their activities.
Interstate Meetings
Every two years or so, there is an Old Scholars’ Reunion held in either Victoria or Canberra. All old scholars from every year living in these States, receives an invitation to enjoy an afternoon tea and meet up with old friends and new faces.
Class Reunions
Every year old classmates meet up to enjoy a Class Reunion. These usually start with a 10 year reunion, then 20, 30, 40 and 50 year reunions. Amazingly, last year we held our first ever 60 year Reunion! What an amazing feat that was – and how young these lovely ladies all looked! Click here to see the photos from this luncheon.
Anyone thinking of holding a Class Reunion or enquiring about a forthcoming Reunion, please contact Vicki Turvey at the College on 03 6234 3381 or email vturvey@smc.tas.edu.au.
